Dream Come True ??? Work At Home as a Writer ???

Here's my dream: to make a living as a writer (meaning I would dearly LOVE to be paid to do what I dearly LOVE to do).

So imagine my response when I came across this article 10 Best (and Real) Work-at-Home Jobs that listed as part of those 10 jobs a WRITER/EDITOR position! Oh, how I have longed for a legitimate work from home – or work at home – writing gig. And how I have longed to write articles or blogs AND get paid for writing them (and by paid I mean more than $.0015 for every person who reads my articles – that's what I make on Associated Content – if you're not good at math, it translates to this: I make $1.50 for every 1,000 people who click my articles – if you're feeling particularly sorry for me right now, please click HERE and contribute to my "trying to stay alive" fund {thank you in advance}).

Anyway, when I read that article I was, in a word, flabbergasted (I love that word) and promptly fell to the floor.

I had such great expectations that FINALLY, I had found a job I could actually do! FINALLY, I had located a job that would PAY ME to blog or to write or to edit or to do anything related to writing!

I wondered, could it be true that after all these years, a genuine work at home job existed that could provide me with some financial security? I dragged myself up from the floor and returned to my computer. With expectations running so high, I could barely use the mouse, I somehow managed to click the link.

Guess what. The link didn't work.

Why didn't it work? I could say it was because I was attempting to connect with the web site, but I am trying to remain positive here. After all, I'm sure it had nothing to do with me. Even though I've never seen this message before (although now I've seen it at least a hundred times), I'm sure that everybody else is having the same problem too: "Safari can't open the page...because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again."

Wait a minute? I've been waiting a minute for my whole life! YOU wait a minute – is Safari the problem? Has Safari lost its muscle? What does it mean, it can't open the page? Safari dropped the ball on this one and I have to pay for it?

Or, and this is a big OR, was the web site so overloaded with people trying to access it that it was ill-prepared for the number of people wanting the same thing I did – financial freedom and the opportunity to work at home by WRITING?

I have become morose. Before I read that article, I had hoped that somebody might actually pay me to be his or her own personal blogger. I now realize that I will be competing with zillions of people who overloaded the server dreaming the same dream I have been dreaming – of working from home as a writer.

(Slumped shoulders) if you are one of those writers who wants to compete with me and you can actually get through to this web site, Home With The Kids, please don't gloat. I would post a screen shot, but – as I said – I can't even get it to open.

Disregard what I said – if you can get through, please let me know. I'm dying to know what's on the other side.

  1. Must have been a glitch because today it worked! But now I don't have any time to look at it ( FIVE kids, four and under – YIKES!)
